Chapter 05 – Instant Success

Xue Junliang apparently heard Teng Yun’s unamused snort. He said, “I know you’ve proved yourself enough, but let the others hear your opinion so they can remove their doubts.”

Teng Yun cupped both his hands together and said, “Zhang Hong is the Late Cheng Tian’s own nephew. Only because Cheng Tian lost to Da Wang, Zhang Hong had the opportunity to kill his own uncle and appoint himself as a king. This alone proves he is disloyal, morally-corrupt and heartless. Moreover, Cheng Tian had always treated Zhang Hong as if he was his own son, yet Zhang Hong killed Cheng Tian as if chopping vegetables. This proves Zhang Hong’s disregard towards filial piety. If Da Wang accepted marriage alliance from Zhang Hong, it will taint Da Wang’s reputation in commoners’ eyes.” Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.2 Ch.05

Chapter 04 – A Thorn in One’s Side

—h

Teng Yun was still brooding over Rui Xue’s words and Zhao Lu’s reaction.

Compared to other people, Teng Yun’s view about human feelings were quite simple. He knew about loyalty, he also knew about a ruler’s care towards his people. But those kinds of feelings, compared to affections between one person to another, were completely different. Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.2 Ch.04

Chapter 03 – Life is Cruel

Never would have Feng Ming thought that Zhao Lu was the clingy sort. Zhao Lu always seemed indifferent and his conduct was also cold. Yet, these past two days, Zhao Lu often came just to see Feng Ming.

Feng Ming understood maybe it was because Zhao Lu felt the pressure of his imminent departure to the battlefields. After all, if given a choice, Feng Ming himself also didn’t want Zhao Lu to go. But in this entire Feng country, there was no one else Feng Ming could put his trust entirely other than Zhao Lu. Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.2 Ch.03

Heyyo! I’m sooooo sorry for not posting for months. Real life happened (still is), and I was having a severe writer block. Yesterday I sat in front of my computer and decided, I’m going to do this! So here we go.

Chapter 02 – A King’s Ruthlessness

Xue Junliang stared down at the prisoner on the ground and laughed cruelly, “Oh? Gu is overconfident? How confident of you to say Gu is overconfident? You must think you’re so modest. Such a ridiculous, lowly guard like you.”

Teng Yun laughed again and closed his eyes so he didn’t have to look at Xue Junliang. His expression seemed to be disdainful, as if Xue Junliang wasn’t worth looking at. Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.2 Ch.02

Chapter 01 – The Encounter

Xue Junliang was still smiling as he reached a hand to help Chen Yi stand. He said, “What are you saying?”

Chen Yi difficultly said, “My condolences, Your Majesty.”

The veins on Xue Junliang hands almost burst. Suddenly he pushed Chen Yi away and swept the things on the table. The inside of the temple turned into a disaster zone in one second. Plates and bowls of offerings all fell to the floor and broke to pieces. The people outside who were about to pray in the temple were shocked and didn’t dare coming in. Chapter 45 – Passed Away

Before Chen Yi left the capital city, he did go to visit Marquis Wannian. Unfortunately, Chen Yi’s way of speaking was too vague and mysterious. Xue Houyang could not understand anything of what Chen Yi was saying.

Teng Shang understood, but he thought he didn’t need to say anything.

Since Xue Wang left the capital city for the south, Xue Houyang had been so busy managing everything. Every court matter, no matter if it was important or trivial, had to be reported to Xue Houyang before any decision could be made. As a result, Xue Houyang had to check each and every matter carefully. Also, he also had to oversee the soldiers’ training at the capital city suburb’s military camp. Chapter 44 – A Worthy King Could Bring Peace to His People

Xue Junliang was perplexed that the Empress would bring up this topic. Sometimes, some problems might look very complicated, but they were actually very simple. This was one of them; with the Empress mentioning just one name, Xue Junliang suddenly found the answer to what he’d been thinking was actually very simple.

Teng Yun saw the moment Xue Junliang’s head cleared. He slowly said, “Your Majesty, do you know why Teng Shang swore his loyalty to Teng? Why did Teng Shang agree to marry another man just so he could stay alive and continue serve his country? It’s not because Teng Shang was a fool, it was because he wanted to repay a huge debt of kindness.” Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.1 Ch.44

Chapter 43 – Marquis Tengnan

The next day, Xue Houyang looked bright and refreshed. Seeing this, Xue Junliang said, “Looks like Houyang’s mood is so good today. Did those three beautiful girls serve you well?”

Xue Houyang’s initial happiness was gone instantly when he heard Xue Junliang mentioned the three beautiful girls. He said, “Your Majesty, please don’t tease me. Currently, I’m not in the mood for jokes.”

Xue Junliang smiled and said, “Seeing that you’re so happy, wasn’t it because of me? Giving those three girls to you actually became the bridge that enabled you and Teng Shang to connect.” Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.1 Ch.43

Chapter 42 – Lord Marquis, Don’t You Want It?

Inside Teng Country’s Imperial Palace, people could hear the shouts from outside and realized that Teng Xin’s encirclement had been broken. The guards opened the Palace Gate to welcome their savior.

An Imperial Guard ran all the way from outside to the main court hall. He fell on his knees and rejoiced, “Your Majesty, Minister Shang has returned! Minister Shang has defeated the rebel army and broken the encirclement!” Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.1 Ch.42

[T/N : Heey.. sorry again for the late update. Know what, I’ll just save my breath. LOL. Here you go!]

Chapter 41 – Not a Word Was Incorrect

Teng Yun felt that every day, he was more and more unable to read Xue Junliang, as his actions always contradicted Teng Yun’s first impression of him. The more Teng Yun thought he had Xue Junliang figured out, the more he would be surprised.

What did Xue Junliang’s intention in allowing Xue Houyang take Teng Shang along with him? Teng Yun always thought Xue Junliang didn’t want his brother to have a feeling towards a man, let alone a man who came from their enemy country. He shouldn’t want anyone seeing his younger brother as a joke. Continue reading The Ugly Empress Vol.1 Ch.41
