When Teng Shang went out of the tea house, he saw Xue Houyang standing at the side of the street holding his horse’s reigns.

Xue Houyang also saw him and called out, “Are you going home, or do you still want to have a walk?”

Xue Houyang purposefully waited here for Teng Shang, showing that he knew Teng Shang had gone for tea with Xue Yu. But he didn’t say anything, and Teng Shang didn’t comment of his knowing either.

When Teng Yun heard Xue Junliang’s words, he wanted to laugh. Sure enough, a king always wished to possess everything, even a troop of one thousand soldiers he could not let go. That aside, Xue Yu bringing one thousand soldiers; these soldiers must be his main source of strength and his must trusted aides.

Xue Junliang deliberately wanted to give the Empress an impossible problem to solve. He saw with his own two eyes the Empress and Xue Yu were talking just now. He was sure she would never find solutions, and therefore could not prove she and Xue Yu had no connections.

But never would have he thought the Empress would actually smile.

Moreover, after the swellings and bruises on Her Majesty’s face disappeared, she looked radiant and her original beauty was shining through. The physician examined Her Majesty’s pulse, then prescribed an ointment for the new wound around her ear and said, “Your Majesty needs not worry. After the monthly period passed, I will prescribe medicine for improving your health. For the next few days, avoid wetting the wound. Also, let the kitchen staff know not to make cold and spicy dishes.”

A royal physician was treating Xue Junliang’s wounds while shaking in fear. When Xue Wang waved a hand allowing him to leave, he immediately escaped.

Working as a royal physician might not necessarily be easier than as an official of imperial court. He would, some times, heard words he shouldn’t be allowed to. Those words might not be very precise and very telling, but still they could be leaked to outsiders. Therefore, if His Majesty let him go, he would hurriedly go. It was better to know less.

The two of them entered the main hall together. Jiang Yu shook his head. By His Majesty’s attitude, Jiang Yu could guess His Majesty was thinking there was another man in the Empress’ heart. Although Teng Shang and Her Majesty didn’t know each other, by these several encounters, Jiang Yu could clearly see His Majesty was very antagonistic towards Teng Shang.
