Chapter 20 – The Wedding

Xue Houyang’s head jerked up to stare at Xue Junliang; his expression grave. Suddenly he dropped down on his knees.

Xue Junliang was a bit surprised by Xue Houyang’s earnestness, but still he good-naturedly laughed, “Houyang, what is it? Why suddenly so courteous?”

Xue Houyang lowered his head and said with hesitation, “Your Majesty doesn’t know who that person is. If you know, you will surely condemn me of sin.”

“Will I?” Xue Junliang smiled and pulled Xue Houyang to stand, “How about you tell me first, then I’ll decide whether you’re guilty or not?”

Chapter 15 – Get Married Immediately

At Teng Yun’s reaction, instead of getting angry, Xue Junliang laughed, “You’re the first person ever dare to refuse me.”

Teng Yun felt as if his lips was catching fire.

He was nineteen when he was sent to the battlefield and he stayed there for ten years. He didn’t remember when it started, but Teng Yun was always trying to be honest and decorous. He did have to attack cities and take war prisoners, but as a soldier he was required to be discipline and strict. Added that Teng Yun was a chief general, he took it upon himself to be even more cautious in his conduct.

Consequently, his experiences in kissing could be considered rather unsophisticated, let alone such a deep and lingering kiss that he was forced into just now. Which was the exact opposite of Xue Junliang’s.

Teng Yun recognized this maidservant from when he still lived in Teng Country. She was very favored because of her cleverness. Xue Houyang invited Teng Shang for a drink but didn’t set a banquet in one of the tent. Instead, he set up a fire in an open field, put a small table next to it topped with a few simple small-dishes and several large jars of wine.

The table was very low, but Xue Houyang didn’t let people to bring him some chairs, he just sat down there on the ground next to the table. Teng Shang might look like a literati but he wasn’t the unreasonable type. After all, he was a man grown on a battlefield and had shed many of his enemies’ blood. Teng Shang also followed Xue Houyang and sat down on the ground.

Xue Houyang pulled the seal off a wine jar and filled two wine cups to the brim, then said, “Tomorrow, we’re already going to enter the capital city, I haven’t even arrange a more hearty welcome. I hope Minister Shang doesn’t blame me.”

When Xue Wang’s maidservant came, Xiu Yao was unmistakably happier than her mistress. She immediately prepared a bath and fresh clothes for Teng Yun, she also wittingly rewarded the servant for relaying the news.

Teng Yun was the opposite of happy. He wondered for what reason this king chose the Ugly Empress for his bed partner. Sure, the Ugly Empress wasn’t as ugly as before, but still she wasn’t as pretty as many other consorts.
